A native of San Antonio, Texas, Gary R. Maze attended both RICE UNIVERSITY in Houston, Texas and the UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS at AUSTIN, Austin, Texas before graduating from SOUTHERN METHODIST UNIVERSITY, in Dallas, Texas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in May 1977, at which time he was named the Ed. M. Harrington Outstanding Co-Op Student. After spending many years working for aerospace and computer companies, Mr. Maze attended and graduated from the SOUTH TEXAS COLLEGE OF LAW, Houston, Texas with a Juris Doctor degree in December, 1994. During law school Mr Maze was awarded the American Jurisprudence Award (Torts II) and was consistently listed on the Dean’s List. Registered to practice before the United States Patent
and Trademark Office, Mr. Maze is licensed in Texas state
courts and in the following Federal Courts: U.S. District Courts of S.D. Texas, E.D. Texas, W.D.
Texas, and the D.C. Colo.; the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals;
and the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals. Legal Experience Prior to founding Maze IP Law, PC in 2014, Mr. Maze was a Shareholder with Berenbaum Weinshienk PC, a regional law firm in Denver, Colorado, where his practice focused on intellectual property, including litigation, patent matters, and trademark matters.
Prior to that, Mr. Maze was a partner (via Gary R Maze PC) in the
Houston, Texas office of Duane Morris LLP, Houston, Texas
where his practice focused on Intellectual Property law, emphasizing
patents (prosecution, litigation, opinions), trademarks
(prosecution, litigation, opinions), trade secrets, and copyrights.
In addition, Mr. Maze handled
numerous general commercial litigation matters. Mr. Maze began his professional career in 1974 working as an engineer for LTV, Inc., in Dallas, Texas, focusing on electro-optics design and testing, including FLIR systems. In 1977 he joined TRW Controls, Inc., in Houston, Texas, as an engineer and programmer specializing in systems test development and quality assurance testing, software control and data acquisition and systems. In 1979 Mr. Maze joined Datapoint, Inc., in San Antonio, Texas, working first as a software developer, and then manager, of a group responsible for test tool software development, software system testing, and software quality assurance testing. He later spent four years as a Product Line Manager responsible for Datapoint's personal computer and local area networking products product lines. In 1987, Mr. Maze left Datapoint and joined ICOT, Inc.'s Mobile, Alabama offices as Vice President, Marketing and Technical Support, responsible for marketing, data communications division; SNA/SDLC and S/3x data communications products. In
1988 Mr.Maze left ICOT with two others to form Datanet
International, Inc.. Serving as its President, Mr. Maze was responsible for management of the
company as well as for all software
development and implementation; personal computer sales/service;
systems integration and support; data communications integration and
support; credit union system software; and custom
software development. |
